Unfortunately, this old store was demolished some years ago. The store was located near the Prospect Hill School campus on N. C. Highway 86 in the southeastern corner of Caswell County and operated by Frank Pierson Riggs (1897-1946). According to Frank's wife, Mary Bethel Holsomback of Person County, neighbors, friends, and relatives at times purchased goods from the store on credit. This included livestock feeds, garden seeds, food, dry goods, farming tools, gas, and oil. These customers would settle their accounts in the fall after taking some tobacco to market.

The pot-bellied stove in the center of the store was the "central heating" enjoyed by the checker players and those who just stopped by to chat and catch up on the latest gossip and community news. Many a tobacco crop and garden were planned while sitting on boxes, crates, feed bags and whatever was handy, around this stove in Frank Riggs' store.
